VM Server for x86

Oracle VM Server for SPARC CMT servers allocates a server’s resources, such as CPU, memory, and IO into logical domains or virtual groupings, creating multiple discrete systems, each with their own operating system, resources, and identity within a single computer. For high availability, virtualization mobility features like warm migration and automatic failover move virtual resources to other systems with minimal downtime. Virtual Assembly Builder

Oracle Virtual Assembly Builder creates and configures entire multi-tier application topologies and provisions them onto virtualized and cloud environments. It captures the entire configuration of enterprise applications which consist of a Web server, application server and database and packages the components into self-contained, single-purpose virtual machines called software appliances. Via a drag-and-drop visual interface, Virtual Assembly Builder creates complex application topologies and connects appliances into cohesive, reusable assemblies. With minimal or no manual intervention, assemblies spanning multiple tiers are deployed as a single unit.


Solaris Containers

Solaris Containers run application environments built on old Solaris and Linux releases on the latest Solaris SPARC systems without modification. Decoupling the hardware upgrade from a corresponding OS and application upgrade, customers can consolidate many systems onto a newer, more cost effective and powerful Sun server. Protecting their IT investment, organizations can then transition legacy environments to the latest Solaris release at their own pace. OS virtualization with Solaris Containers enables customers to maintain their "one-application-per server" deployment model while consolidating those applications onto shared hardware resources. Containers isolate applications using flexible, software -defined boundaries and create private execution environments that can be replicated across Solaris instances.


VM VirtualBox

VirtualBox is a small-footprint, high-performance, virtualization platform that installs and runs as an application on a variety of Windows, Solaris, Mac OS X, or Linux host operating systems. It creates multiple virtual machines into which users can install whatever guest operating systems they need. So, users can easily build, test and run cross-platform, multi-tier applications on a single computer. With hypervisor enhancements for SMP enabling optimum performance and support for up to 32 vCPUs per guest, VirtualBox handles intensive workloads. It also supports the Open Virtualization Format (OVF) appliances to interoperate with other virtualization platforms.
